Get Up, Show Up

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

I have a morning routine.  If my routine is thrown off, sometimes I readjust quickly, and I go on about my day.  On the days when it is thrown off completely, it affects my attitude for the day and possibly the next day depending on what it is.  There have been times when it has affected my whole week.  Whether I have a good or bad day depends on my attitude.  With that being said, we determine the kind of day and life we choose to have.  Let me say that again, only we can determine the day and life we choose to have.  God has already said in Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  All we must do is believe it even in the storms.

Read the verse above again.  I would like to give you the definition of fear and timidity.  Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.  Timidity is lack of courage or confidence.  Read those definitions again.  God already knows what he has put into us to fulfill the purpose he has for us on this earth.  Do we really think God will lead us into someone or something that is likely to cause pain or be a threat?  Do we really believe that God did not put in us what is needed to fulfill His purpose in our lives?  We have confidence because he gave it to us.  We must believe it. 

There will be times when we are afraid.  There will be times when we lack courage or confidence.  I am not going to lie and say that there is not, but it is not because of God.  The reasons may include family/friends telling you that dream is unattainable; individuals reminding you of what you used to do and be; it may be because right now you lack the resources to carry out your vision.  None of those reasons matters.  Philippians 1:6 (NLT) says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”  That means he will give you what you need.

Everyday, Get Up and Show Up.  What does that mean?  Get up with a willing spirit.  Show up with a grateful attitude knowing that the life you desire is on the way.  Trust the process.
