Jesus Got Swag

The other morning I was studying, coffee still warm, my brain still waking up, and the devotional was talking about the End Times. Heavy stuff. But then I hit this verse and it felt like a holy mic drop.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

Read that again. Slowly. That doesn’t sound timid. That sounds confident. That sounds like Jesus saying, “I’ve been doing this.”

Here’s the thing. Most of us believe in Jesus, but we still quietly rank Him. We admire Him, sure. But when it comes to vision, strategy, creativity, or direction for our lives, we start looking everywhere else first. Books. Experts. Algorithms. Credentials. We trust God for salvation, but not always for leadership.

That tension shows up when a believer is trying to make sense of their calling. They love God. They pray. But they also wonder if they’re “qualified enough” or “doing it right.” The relationship with God is real, but it’s stretched thin by comparison and self-doubt.

And then Scripture interrupts us.

Jesus created heaven and earth in six days. No MBA. No project management certification. No marketing funnel. He turned water into wine without planting a vineyard. He taught with authority without ever stepping foot in a seminary. People followed Him because truth recognizes truth.

Revelation 1:8 reminds us who we’re dealing with. Jesus isn’t just part of the story. He is the beginning, the middle, and the ending. Before your dream existed, He was there. When your plan feels shaky, He’s still steady. When the future feels unclear, He already occupies it.

When we actually believe that, something shifts. We stop striving to prove ourselves and start listening more closely. We stop borrowing confidence from the world and start resting in God’s sufficiency. Faith doesn’t make us passive. It makes us aligned.

Here’s the encouragement. You’re not behind. You’re not late. You’re not underqualified. The same God who authored time is involved in your life right now.

So pause for a moment. Ask yourself, where have I been trusting my own limits more than God’s authority? Then pray honestly. Invite Him to re-frame how you see your calling.

Because if Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, He’s more than capable of handling everything in between.
