Who Are You Willing to Fight For and With?
Good Morning. How many of you have seen or heard of the movie, “The Magnificent Seven?” I just want to give you some back story of the movie. Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns. As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money. 7 men freed a whole town full of people.
None of the seven men hired stayed in the town that they were fighting for. Yes, they were getting paid, but at the end of the day, they knew it was a possibility they would die. All of them did, but one. This fight had to mean more than just money for them. Who would just give up their life for people they have no ties with?
With that being said, let me bring this thing back around. We have one man, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that died for us voluntarily. Did he have too? No. He could have allowed us to live under the law which is the Old Testament. We cannot say he didn’t know us because he’s the one that formed us in our mother’s womb. Every day he blesses us with blessings on top of blessings. Just this morning, you woke up with the activity of your limbs and a sound mind. Prayerfully, you did not get any phone calls last night or this morning saying someone is sick, dead, or dying. If that is not enough, he provides us with what we need and even our wants.
If these seven men can fight for someone that they don’t know, why can’t we fight for the one that knows us better than anyone? What do you mean by fight Sebrena? Why can we not bring more people to Christ? Why can’t we fight for our family members and friends? Why are we so worried about what others will say? How they will react when we turn our lives around? Yes, I understand that you may lose family and friends along the way. I know people will talk about you behind your back. Do you remember how he or she used to be in the club? I could go on, but you get my gist. In Matthew 9:37 (NLT) it says, “He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.”
These men set out to free a whole town. God is happy is if you can turn one to him. Just something to think about. Have a Blessed Day!
