God is the One that Keeps You
“Present the case for your idols,” says the Lord. “Let them show what they can do,” says the King of Israel. 22 “Let them try to tell us what happened long ago so that we may consider the evidence.
Or let them tell us what the future holds, so we can know what’s going to happen.
23 Yes, tell us what will occur in the days ahead. Then we will know you are gods.
In fact, do anything—good or bad. Do something that will amaze and frighten us. 24 But no! You are less than nothing and can do nothing at all.” Isaiah 41:21-24 (NLT)
I love to see God’s people prosper. I do not know the journey that it took to get you there. It could have been easy or hard. Either way, you are there. If I were to sit with you and hear your testimony, what would it sound like? Are you there because you trusted in God? He helped you get through. Are you there because you did it all by yourself? You had no help from Him. What a misconception if you think you did. Have you started to put your trust in you and the things you have accomplished versus God?
I was reading Isaiah 41 this morning during my morning study time. It talks about Israel and other nations. Israel served God while the other nations served pagan gods. God called the other gods out in this passage of scripture. He wanted to know where they were. If they could do all this, why do they have nothing to show for it? A god with limited or no power has no power at all is not really a god (Life Application Study Bible – study notes Isaiah 41:21-24). How does that relate to you and me?
We sometimes put too much stock in our family, career, cars, and things of this world. Family disappoints us. Your family cannot or will not help you. There can be layoffs at your job with you being one. If you do not have a job, how can you pay for a car. Your car can be repossessed. Those things can be here one day and gone the next. If that happens, what will you do? Do you stop living just because? I pray not.
God wants to be first in your life. People and things are not meant to be served. Only God. He is the one that gave you the family, the abilities to do the job well, and the resources to pay for the car. You had the drive to get it, but you need God to keep it.
