Your Number of Vessels to Fill
“Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel. And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.” 2 Kings 4:6 (NKJV)
Good Morning. There was this woman that had two sons. Her husband was deceased. She had no money to pay her debtors. During that time, if you couldn’t pay, you were allowed to sell yourself or your children as slaves. She cried out to Elisha since her husband had been a member of the group of prophets. Elisha asked her what did she have to sell to pay her debts. She had nothing save a bottle of oil. He told her to borrow as many empty vessels as she could from friends and neighbors. The widow did as she was told. She used the one bottle of oil to fill every vessel she had. Elisha told her to sell what she had to pay the creditors. Use the rest to live off of with her two sons. I want to talk about the number of vessels she had at the end to sell. The scripture didn’t say how many vessels she had at the end. The number of vessels indicated the faith of her and the two sons. God’s provision was just as large as her faith because she was obedient to the man of God. We have to be careful when we doubt what our God can do for us. We can limit his blessings by not listening, and being obedient to the word of God. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) God lets us know on an continual basis how much he loves us. God provides for us on a daily basis. We may not have all we want. We have what we need. If God came today, how many vessels would you be able to fill? Have a Blessed Day!
