Your Temptations are Nothing New

Good Morning.  I don’t know why we believe that the things we experience are new to God.  There is nothing within our lives of the lives of others that he has not seen or heard.  I’m sorry for having to tell you that you are not special in this regard.  Before we continue, let me give you the definition of temptation.  The definitions of temptation are the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise; a thing or course of action that attracts or tempts someone; the tempting of Jesus by the Devil (see Matt. 4).  The devil even tried to tempt God.  Why do we think we will be any different? The only thing is that God didn’t fail as we often do.

Temptation started back when Adam and Eve was in the Garden of Eden.  The devil tempted Eve to eat the fruit from the Tree of Good and Evil.  She ate and so did Adam.  This temptation took place before the devil even attempted to tempt God.  The devil tempts us daily with what we want, but know we shouldn’t have.  It could be something as simple as eating something that is not on your meal plan.  That’s me.  To something like cheating with someone that belongs to someone else.  I have done that too.  Please know that even though God is using me in this capacity, I’m still a work in progress.  I do not always do things right.  Whatever it is, know that (1) God already knew the temptation coming and that you would possibly succumb to it and (2) Forgiveness is offered to all that repent.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) says, “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”  Let’s break this verse down.

  • Your temptations are just like everyone else’s
  • God is faithful even in our mess
  • He will not allow the temptation to take us out
  • He will show us a way out

Even when we’re wrong, he helps us anyway.  That’s how much he loves us.  I need you to ponder on that today.  Whatever you’re in, know that there is a way out.  Ask God to help you today.  Have a Blessed Day!
