Studying that Works for You

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)

Good Morning. I rely heavily on what God says to me in order for me to write for you. For about two weeks straight, I changed up my method of studying. I would usually journal. During that time, God would give me a thought, I’d find the verse or verses, and then I write. I felt like I was doing it all wrong. I can’t even tell you why.  I stopped journaling, and began to just read chapters in the bible every day.  If this is what you do, I’m not knocking it. I found out this didn’t work for me because my blogs are based off something I have experienced or felt. I use the scriptures to tie it back in to our Christian walk. I was asking God, “why am I not getting anything?” I didn’t receive an answer from him. I didn’t stop studying because I trust God enough that I felt I would get something from him eventually. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m in a small group. Our topic for last week was the living word. One of the co-leaders talked to us about how she studied the living word, which is God. She stated she starts off journaling. In the midst of her journaling about her day, etc., he’d give her a word. She would take that word or verse, and go the bible. I realized that was how I was getting it too. Look at God! She also mentioned, “No Condemnation.” However you get your word from God is how you get it. We don’t have to read 3 chapters a day, pray for an hour, or go to church 3-4 times a Sunday to hear from God. He can give you one verse. That one verse can speak to that situation that you are in right now. In the verse mentioned in the beginning says, “study to shew thyself approved unto God.” Study, but make sure that method works for you. Don’t try to be like everyone else. Have a Blessed Day!
