Pulling Your Strength from God
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.” Psalm 28: 7 (NKJV)
Good Morning. Have you ever had those days where it seems like everything was hitting at one time, and from all directions? That was yesterday. As a matter of fact, last Friday was like that too. One thing I’ve realized on this walk of faith is that we can’t do it alone. Sometimes we’re going to need someone else to get us through what sometimes may be an hour, day, or even a year of some rough times. That doesn’t mean we’re weak. We actually show our strength because we let go of our pride in those situations to seek the help we need. The most important person we need to rely on is God. In the scripture above, it says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield.” The definition of strength: the quality or state of being strong, in particular. The definition of shield: protect (someone or something) from a danger, risk, or unpleasant experience. God is there to protect us and wants us to pull on him when going through various situations. Some people are under the misconception that when they become saved, they no longer experience anything unpleasant in their lives. James 1:2-4 (NKJV) says, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Go to God with the things you can’t handle. Just know there will be plenty of those. Pull on his strength. I find myself singing old hymnals when it seems like my back is against a wall. Songs like “Lord, don’t move my mountain, but give me the strength to climb.” Another one I like to sing, “Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around.” I use that song especially when others almost cause me to go into the flesh. Remember, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) Have a Blessed Day!
