Field Training of Life
I have been out of the military for 5 years, but rejoined in January to complete my 3 years needed to retire. This past weekend was the first time that I drilled with my new unit. I cannot say I was overly excited because my first drill with them was spent out in the field. I have not been to the field since 1997. Military training for our job specific duties are conducted in the field to make sure that we can efficiently and effectively do our jobs if deployed. In the field you are missing the conveniences as if you were home. What has been going on in your life to make you feel like you are down in the trenches?
I would like to think that this life that we live is us conducting our training in the field. We go through different scenarios to see how we will respond when put in situations where we may not know what to do. The thing about these different scenarios is that once we go through them one time, we will know what to do the next time. Some missions that we go through may be harder than others. They may have us to see and feel things that we may not think we can get over. You can because God said in Hebrews 13:5 (NLT), “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
There may be others beside you encouraging you while others may only offer only discouragement. They may even suggest you just give up. Be like Job in that moment when he told his wife in Job 2:10 (NLT), “But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.” Life will not always consist of good days. There will be bad days as well. I want to encourage you today by telling you have what you need through his word and prayer. There is nothing that you cannot overcome with God by your side.
Daily ask God for his guidance and direction. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” James 1:5 (NLT) I promise he will tell you what you need to do. It may not always be what you want to do, but it will always be God’s best for you.
