Are We There Yet?
Good Morning. Have you all watched the movie, “Are We There Yet?” It features Ice Cube and Nia Long. Just to give you a little context on the movie. “Nick Persons is a selfish player who owns a collectables sports shop in Portland, Oregon. Everything in his life is perfect until he meets Suzanne Kingston, a businesswoman who has something Nick hates – children: Lindsey and Kevin. Nick and Suzanne become friends and share good moments with each other. But Nick’s peaceful life gets altered when Suzanne asks him to drive her kids to Vancouver. After the 3 miss a plane and then, train, they drive. Unfortunately, Kevin and Lindsey hate Nick, and he has to try to make it to Vancouver, unaware of the terror and torture he is in for.” The question they asked constantly on the trip was, “Are we there yet?”
Is that how we are with God sometimes? We constantly ask God the same question. The journey of life has been so where we are ready for the breakthrough. Don’t get me wrong, I have been there as well. We say things like: Lord, I’m ready for a promotion. Lord, I’ve been single for a long time. I’m ready for a mate. Lord, my business has been in the red since I started. When will I turn a profit? We’re not thinking about the growth that has taken place while we are waiting on all those things. God is constantly showing us during the process that he has us. We are just ready for it to end and I get it.
Do we ever think that God is taking us on the scenic route because he wants to make sure everything is as it should be in the end? Maybe he also knows that if he gives it to us now, we will not do as we should with it. We will not appreciate it as much. I don’t know what all God’s reasons are for why he delays the blessings sometimes. I do believe that they are coming and so should you. Enjoy the journey as much as you can while waiting, knowing God will never leave you or forsake you. Have a Blessed Day!
