Let Go and Let God
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:38
You hear so many people use the phrase, “Let Go and Let God.” I love the phrase, but you wonder how many actually do it. My life has consisted of letting go and letting God, but also of holding so tight to things that I could not allow God to work. How many of you can say the same thing?
Last week was a very trying week for me. If you have kids, you know they can test the patience and peace within you. My son had the opportunity to try-out for the dance team of the school he is attending in August. He did not let me in on the plans until the last minute, and there really were no plans. He did not think past buying his flight ticket. Being a mother, I stepped in to try to fix it. I thought we had come up with a solid plan only to watch it fall apart the day he left. How many of you have had days like that?
Some people will probably tell you that I am a strong person. I would like to think that I am on most days, but sometimes I do not feel strong at all. After telling myself that everything would be alright, I finally broke down. While I was breaking down about everything happening with my son, he was taking it in stride. It was not bothering him at all. I Peter 5:7 (NLT) says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” Even though he may have not realized it, he had given all his worries to God. When I tell you God fixed it? I am always in awe of how God can take a situation that seems impossible, fix it to show you how he works things out. I am happy to say my son made the dance team.
I encourage you today to give it all to God. It looks impossible but remember God’s word when he said nothing is impossible with God. I know you are tired of dealing with it. You have put so much time and energy in trying to fix it. Friend, it was never yours to fix. You are standing in the way of allowing God to work in that situation because you will not let go. God is waiting on you to give him all your worries. Remember the verse above, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” I Peter 5:7 (NLT) While you are trying to figure it out, God has already worked it out.
No one can say that they have not had trials and tribulations. God’s word says in Romans 5:3-4 (NKJV), “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulations produces perseverance, and perseverance; character; and character, hope.”
