Obedience is Better than Sacrifice

But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT)

Good Morning.  This week I decided to do something that I should have done years ago, but I just wasn’t ready.  The operative word is I.  Then again, individuals that are truly called, are they ever ready?  I had been talking to various people through the years that listened and encouraged me, but I still wouldn’t walk the path God planned for me.  Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  Even knowing this, I still didn’t want to walk the path.  Let’s reflect back on the scripture at the beginning of the post, and focus on the latter part where it states, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.”  I wonder sometimes if I had just walked the path laid out for me in the beginning, where would I be.  Would more doors have been opened for me, but then again, God already knew what I was going to do, and he planned accordingly.  That’s why I don’t really dwell on the coulda, woulda, or shoulda at this point.  There are things that the Lord has told you to do.  They’re things that seem hard, and have the potential to make you uncomfortable.  Even knowing this, walk it out.  Hebrews 13: 5 (KJV) says, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  Have a Blessed Day!
