Running In Place
If you have ever ran in your life, you have experienced the difference between running on a treadmill, running outside, or even running in place. There is a significant difference in each one. Have you ever felt like you’re constantly moving, but going nowhere? You may even feel like your life is stagnant. That’s what life can feel like when you’re not making changes or if you never do anything different. That’s what I would like to deem, Running in Place.
What have you thought about doing, but keep putting it off? I’m going to let that sit for a few minutes. Think about it. This could have been cleaning out your closet, going to a new restaurant, or even taking that dream trip.
What is holding you back? Why do you think you haven’t done those things that you’ve wanted to do? Is it a family member, a friend, coworker, or even you that are discouraging you from pursuing those things that are in your heart?
You haven’t cleaned out the closet, yet you know that you can’t wear half of the clothes in there. I can say this because I just cleaned out my closet this past July. I held on to a lot of my clothing thinking, “I’m going to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.” I was sadly mistaken. The body at 20 and 40 is totally different especially after having children. Whew Chile! I had to borrow that one from Sarah Jakes Roberts. I digressed. Now, I’m back on track. Buy some new things to embrace the you now.
One day you and a friend were talking about a new restaurant. This friend told you that someone they know went to that restaurant, and it wasn’t good, therefore, you shouldn’t go either. So, guess what you do…pass the restaurant without ever going in. Even if it wasn’t good to them, that doesn’t mean it won’t be good to you.
You are planning this trip to St. Thomas. You’re so excited so you decide to share with a coworker. The coworker says, “Do you know how expensive that trip will be? You should go somewhere least expensive like a beach in Florida.” You change your plans forgetting that you have saved for 2 years to be able to afford this trip.
Again, what holds you back from doing those things that are in your heart? I just wanted to give you some examples. It may be something totally different. Get rid of the negativity and self-doubt. Only you can make the decision to stop Running in Place. I hope this post prompted you to make at least one decision or one change. Have a Blessed Day!
