The Welcoming Committee

“At the end of the two days, Jesus went on to Galilee. ⁴⁴ He himself had said that a prophet is not honored in his own hometown. ⁴⁵ Yet the Galileans welcomed him, for they had been in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration and had seen everything he did there.” John 4:43-45 (NLT)

Last year I attempted to move to GA based on a word God gave me in 2015 and 2020 when I asked again.  The pandemic happened and I returned to Alabama.  While I was in GA last year, I received a phone call from a friend I had not heard from in years.  God used this person to tell me what Jesus told his disciples in the verse above.  My own people will not accept me here at home. There will be others who will accept and celebrate what God is doing in my life.  Can I be honest and say that I did not understand that?  How can my own people not accept me when I am one of them?  That truly baffled me. 

God has a purpose for all our lives.  Sometimes he may ask us to go places and connect with people that we have no desire too.  God would not put us in a situation that would cause hurt and pain to us.  He knows what we need even though we may not know it.  This place and these people are exactly what we need in order to help us get to where God wants and needs us to be.  If you are like me, you would probably ask questions like, “Where will I live? Where will I work?  What about my family at home? I do not know anyone there.” 

If God had not already prepared the way for you, he would not have asked you to move in that direction.  He is waiting on you to make the first step.  The first step is trusting him in the process.  Everything may not exactly go as plan.  When this happens, you must control the narrative on how you handle it. 

I encourage you to trust God in this.  Everyone will not be happy for you.  Everyone will not see the vision that God has put in front of you.  That is okay.  All you need is faith and Jesus.  He will put the people in front of you that is needed to help you and encourage you. You will have your very own Welcoming Committee!
