When the Newness Wears Off
Good Afternoon. Today, I want to use as an example, a new car. When you get a new car, it has that new car smell. You keep it clean on the inside and out. You buy the air freshener to go in it. You won’t allow the kids to eat in it because they may waste something. All this until you’ve probably had the car for roughly 3-6 months. Now it takes everything for you to just go through the car wash, and vacuum it out. No more air freshener and trash is everywhere. Now that you have that visual, I want to talk about when you first come to Christ. You’re in church every Sunday, bible study during the week, and you read your bible and pray for hours. Slight exaggeration on the last statement. Anyway, after a while, all that changes. We barely give God fifteen minutes of our time. I’m not saying that you can’t miss church or bible study. I’m not saying that you need to read your bible and pray for hours. What I’m saying is keep the newness in your relationship with God. You can do this by reading a new scripture every day. Instead of always telling God about your issues, tell him how thankful you are for just sustaining you. Talk to him when times are good and when they are bad. What do you do to keep the newness in your walk with Christ? Think about it. Have a Blessed Day!
