Telling God Thank You

My son and I were headed to the store this past week to pick up some items.  We were talking about his new job, and how everything was going.  He was let go from one job through no fault of his own.  The very same day he got a call to begin a new job the next day.  I asked him did he say thank you.  He thought I was speaking in reference to the family member that got him the job.  I told him no, not him.  Did you tell God thank you?  His reply was no.  I let him know that he should because if God had not done it, he would still be unemployed.  How many of us have gone hours, days, weeks, etc. without ever telling God thank you?

We may say, “God knows our heart.  He knows that we are thankful.”  Does he really know that though?  How many times have you felt unappreciated because someone has not said thank you when you have done things for them?  Just like we like to hear thank you so does God.  It takes less than 2 seconds to say thank you.  It would be even better if sometimes we wrote out a list of things that we are thankful for.  This will help us remember we cannot do anything without God.

Ecclesiastes 10:12 (NKJV) says, “The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up.”  It is so easy to be gracious towards God when we consider all the things that God does for us.  Don’t complain just because the blessing does not look like you thought it should.  God loves and only wants the best for us.

Each day, make it a habit to say thank you even it is for the smallest things.  You will find that you have more things to be thankful for than you realize.
