Sometimes God Tests Our Faith
I was studying Genesis 22 during my morning meditation which tells the story of Abraham doing what was asked of him. God told him to offer his son as a sacrifice to him. If God asked me to sacrifice my child, one that I thought I would never have, I do not know if I would have been able to do it. Abraham’s fear and faith in God was shown as he laid his son to be sacrificed. What are we willing to sacrifice for Jesus?
When I read stories in the Bible, I am sometimes awed by the things that were done during those times. Looking at society today, I’m not sure we would have made it. In my opinion, no one is willing to sacrifice anything for Jesus. We do not want to give up anything because we feel like if we do, we may not get the same caliber or better of what we sacrificed. Abraham did not know that God would have a ram in the thicket. He trusted God in the midst of what he told him to do. God did not allow him to sacrifice his son.
I encourage you today to trust God during the test. Please do not think that all your situations will turn out like Abraham’s. Your test may be God taking something or someone that is important to you. Know that God will be there for you before, during, and after the test. He will not leave you without his peace and comfort.
When God puts you through a test, channel the faith of Abraham knowing that God did not leave him or forsake him. He will not leave you comfortless.
