Change Me, O God

“Create in me a clean heart; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

When we wake up in the morning, your first thoughts are not to do anything that is not pleasing in the sight of God.  I hope not anyway.  We wake up with good intentions.  The day before, we say we are going to stop gossiping, committing adultery, lying, stealing, killing, etc.  Sorry for the list, but we have the tendency to believe that one sin is greater than the other.  Sin is sin.  You sin.  It may not look like the ones I have listed, but you do.  You wonder why you still do the same things you say you are not going to do.  It is because you are not putting God into the equation.  You are trying to do it in your own strength.

Tamela Mann has this song called, “Change Me.”  I would like to share a few words with you.

Change me, oh God
Make me more like you
Change me, oh God
Wash me through and through
Create in me a clean heart
So that I may worship you

In the verse above, it asks God to create in me a clean heart.  I wanted to share one of the definitions of clean.  Clean means to be morally uncontaminated; pure; innocent.  We are flesh.  We have made mistakes.  We will make more mistakes.  The way society is set up it is hard not to be morally uncontaminated by the things we hear and see.  We as believers must make a cognizant decision to not allow what we see and hear affect us in a way that we go against the word of God.

Each day wake up asking God to change you.  We must strive to be more like him every day.  Will we always succeed?  Heck no.  God knows our heart though.  That is what he looks at.
