Do We want Jesus or His Miraculous Signs?
Good Morning. During my bible studying this morning, I was reading John 6. Sometimes a particular verse will stick out to me that the Lord will minister to my spirit. This morning it was verse 26. John 6:26 (NLT) says, “Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs.” What was so interesting about this verse is that when it comes to Jesus, that’s how we view him. The people didn’t want Jesus in their lives based on who he is, but because of what he could do for them.
How many of you talk to God daily? I’m not speaking in reference to on your knees praying with your hands together. I mean do you talk to him during the day while you’re at work, riding in your car, in the line at the grocery store, or even going to the man or woman house you know you shouldn’t be at. Did I step on someone toes just then? It’s alright. God convicts me all the time. In a nutshell, do you seek him in all you do? Do you pray when things are good, or only when things are bad?
In this chapter, the people are still asking God to show them miraculous signs after he fed them with two fish and five loaves of bread. There were five thousand men not including the women and children. That is a lot of mouths to feed. It’s sad, but that is the way we are. We need to constantly see the miracles or things God do for us in order for us to believe in him. God constantly blesses us whether we see them or not. Are we thanking him for those blessing? Should I give you some examples or are you good? I’ll leave you alone. LOL!
Even when we cannot see what God is doing, he is working miracles on our behalf. We can’t see all of them because he is working behind the scenes. Thank God daily for all his blessings. Have a Blessed Day!
