Getting the Groove Back

Good Morning.  How many of you have seen or heard of the movie, “How Stella Got Her Groove Back?”  When I first watched the movie years ago, I was like, “Yesssssss Stella” with this 20 year old man.  Lord, I thank you for growth.

A few weeks ago, I watched the movie again.  This time I was not focused on Stella and Winston, but on Stella’s mindset.  For all that have watched the movie, we can all agree that for the most part, Stella had herself together.  She was physically fit, knowledgeable and successful in her career, and she was also raising her son as a single parent.  Stella was holding it down.

This time I said Yessssssss because I want my life in some aspects to be like Stella’s.  I want to be physically fit so I hired a trainer to get me on the right path.  I want to be knowledgeable successful in my career.  I’m not sure what my career will be, but I am working towards it with the ideas that God has given me.  Don’t worry.  I’ll be sharing real soon what that entails.  I have raised three wonderful children as a single parent so I am very proud of myself for that.

Stella did have some faults because no one is perfect.  The first thing I saw was that she loved control of her life and the people and things within it.  I can say this is me sometimes as well.  There is nothing wrong with giving up control.  God works better when we give it all to him.  The next thing I noticed was that she was so focused on making money that she forgot what brought her joy which was building furniture.  Winston had to remind her by cleaning up the space used for making furniture and buying her the needed equipment to help her be successful.  Stella forgot how to live and not just exist.  Last, but not least, I noticed that love didn’t look like what she envisioned.  She would never have thought she would fall in love with a 20 year old man.  Let me put my disclaimer out there.  I’m not saying that you will meet and fall in love with an individual younger or older than you.  I’m saying to be open to who God sends your way.

The life you want is right there.  You may have gotten sidetracked.  Life threw you some curve balls that may have looked like they would take you out.  Guess what?  You are still here.  You have survived. You never lost the groove.  You forgot what it looked and felt like.  Start remembering the person you were before life happened.  Be the person you were with all the dreams.  Go back to that place.  Let that person rise again.  Have a Blessed Day!
