His Finished Work
Good Morning. Many of you know this scripture. Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Read that verse on more time. Let’s focus on the last part of the verse, “to give an expected end.”
The definition of expected is regard (something) as likely to happen. The definition of end is come or bring to a final point; finish. This blessed me. God is telling us in this verse that whatever he has planned is going to be finished. So if God says it’s going to happen, why do we worry? Is it because maybe we don’t believe it will come to pass?
I know. There are setbacks after setbacks. Every time you overcome one thing, here comes something else. If you’re like me, you’re like, “Really God.” You have family and friends putting doubt in your mind. They’re telling you to give up. It’s not going to work. God isn’t going to bless your mess. Look at all the things you have done? I encourage you to look at Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. He was actually persecuting God’s people. Read Acts 9:1-9 when you get an opportunity. If God can use Paul, think of what he can do through you.
You are God’s finished work. You were born with a purpose. God loves you with an unconditional love. There is nothing that you can do to cause God’s love for you to change. Psalm 138:8 (KJV) says, “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.” That verse should give you something to think about when it comes to how good our God is.
