The Goliaths in Your Life

Good Morning.  We oftentimes look at problems as being more than we can handle.  We, and the operative word is we, try to do it all by ourselves without including God.  We worry more than we pray trying to figure it all out.  Does this serve you any purpose?  If you’re honest with yourself, the answer would be no.

Do you all recall the story of David and Goliath?  In this story, the Philistines and Israelites were in a standoff during battle.  The Philistines had Goliath who was 13 feet tall.  They put him up against an Israelite which would be considered a match for Goliath.  This person was Saul.  Back then they had their strongest among them fight.  Whoever won was the victor.  This kept down on the number of casualties in the army.  They waited for 40 days on opposite sides of the valley waiting on other side to attack first.

One day David arrived in the camp to bring food to his three brothers that were in the Israelite Army.  David inquired what was the reward for defeating the giant.  If you’ve read the story or heard the story, you know David defeated Goliath.  David didn’t see Goliath as an imposing figure because he knew what God could do.

I would like to compare us to Saul and the soldiers in this story.  We sometimes forget that our God is so much bigger than anything we will ever face.  It seems like the situation is 13 feet tall, and it will crush us.  We try to put all responsibilities on ourselves forgetting that God said in his word that he will never leave us or forsake us.  He also said that he will put no more on you than you can bear.  Remember that with God all things are possible.  Have a Blessed Day!
