The Greatest Gift – Love

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV)

Good Morning. As I was lying in bed this morning, I asked the Lord what he wanted me to talk about today. Several ideas came, but only one scripture popped up, 1 Corinthians 13. I didn’t include the whole passage above because it would have been too long. This scripture talks about the greatest gift we should give which is love. Well, let me say up front, I’m not all the way there yet. If some of you are honest, neither are you. We as flesh have the tendency to love with conditions. We love a person when we feel they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. I can even say we love them when they are doing exactly what we want them to be doing. How can we love someone when they are being outright mean? How can we love someone who is constantly physically and verbally abusing us? How can we love someone who is trying on a conditional basis to keep us from exceeding at our job? We can because God does it everyday. We can because he shows us continual grace and mercy everyday. We can because even though he knew we would be a mess, he still died on the cross for our sins. John 3:16 (NKJV) says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Some of you are saying to yourself, I don’t do any of those things mentioned above? What is that one thing about someone that makes you question your love for him or her? You have to realize, just like they may have that one thing, you have that one thing too. Pray for that person(s) today. Remember, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) Pray for yourself today asking God to show you how to love them. Have a Blessed Day!
