Try Jesus. He’s Alright

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”

Psalm 34:8 (NLT)

I received a new juice from a friend of mine to try.  My son never had it before and asked to taste it.  After the initial taste, he decided that he did not like it and put it back in the refrigerator for me to drink later.  If you are like me, I like to try new dishes and drinks to expand my horizon.  Sometimes, they are a hit or miss, but at least I tried.  Then at other times, I stick to what I know.  When was the last time you tried Jesus?

In the verse above, it is extending an invitation to unbelievers and those who may have backslide to come to Jesus.  It not saying that they should come to see him based on what he can do for them (signs and miracles).  It talks of the joy, peace, and happiness with being in Christ.  He takes care of His children.  We can take refuge in Him because he cares for us.

When life gets us down, we sometimes have the tendency to forget how good God is.  We focus so much on what is wrong that we cannot see what is right.  The scripture says that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).  He does not change so if he does not change, we can take refuge that he will always be there for us whenever we need him.

Each day wake up with a renewed spirit.  That spirit remembers and knows how good God is if we rely on him to be in our lives.  There is a song we sing in church that says, “Try Jesus.  He’s alright.”
