Fishers of Men

“17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” Mark 1:17-18

Good Morning. Let me start off by saying Happy New Year! I pray that your year will be a blessed one! This morning I want to talk to you about being fishers of men. I don’t know how familiar you are with the disciples of Jesus. In Mark, the first chapter, this is where God starts recruiting his disciples. God’s disciples were just ordinary people like you and me. They dropped everything to follow Jesus. When they began, they didn’t have this great faith. God had to teach them the things they needed to know. Let us think of ourselves as God’s new disciples so to speak. He wants to use us to spread his word. God teaches us through his word the things we need to know in order to follow and bring others to Christ. All we have to do is read his word, believe his word, and share his word. Yes, there will be unbelievers. Yes, there will be some that will be downright ugly when you express the love of God. Do you stop? No. You may just talk that one who will turn their life around just because of the words you speak to them. This year I encourage you to be Fishers of Men. Yes, it will be hard for you some days because life happens. Do you stop? No. The words you speak to others will in turn help you by reminding you of God’s love for you and them. Didn’t he die on the cross for us? The least we can do is share how good he is. Have a Blessed Day!
