Distressed but Not Defeated

Good Morning.  This morning I was lying in bed after the alarm went off saying, “Lord, I’m so tired.  I don’t want to move.  I don’t want to go to work.”   I know you have days like this as well.  The people at work are getting on your nerves.  Your workload is piling up with no help in sight.  The children are not doing what they need to do in school or in the household.  The bills are due.  You have more going out than coming in.  It can be a lot some days.

This past weekend was my first drill in 5 years.  I have not had a day off since the Sunday before last so I am running on fumes and coffee at this point.  My body is tired as well because I took a physical training test that I was not prepared for, therefore my body is sore.  Not to mention all the things that is going on in my personal life.  I promised the Lord that I would write on my blog every day.  At times, I wonder if I am going to have a word to give you.  I am distressed.  I would love to just go dark from everybody and everything until I feel 100%, but life doesn’t work like that.  We all have responsibilities.

The scripture I would like to give you today is:

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

The reason I am not defeated is because of the verse above.  The Lord will renew our strength.  After I got up out of the bed, I felt better.  I moved better.  My body was not as sore today.  I decided to turn on my praise and worship music because hearing that right song can bring you out of the defeating thoughts you may be having.  The song for me today was My God Is Awesome by Charles Jenkins.  Here are a few of the lyrics.  I encourage you to listen to the whole song when you have an opportunity.

This is the worship song that says this, “our God is awesome”

He can move mountains
(He can move mountains) keep me in the valley
(Keep me in the valley) hide me from the rain
(Hide me from the rain)
Come on, our God is awesome

He heals me when I’m broken
(Heals me when I’m broken)
Gives strength where I’ve been weakened (strength where I’ve been weakened)
Forever He will reign (forever He will reign)
Come on, say “my God is awesome”

Today, know that you maybe distressed, but you are not defeated.  Get up anyway.  Show God that you know he is your strength and refuge.   Have a Blessed Day!
